BHID

After reading all the good post about the BHID I have been thinking of selling my Sovereign GT and buying a new BHID with the new 12 inch coil. I would like to ask if there are any hunters here that has used the GT and then bought the BHID and what do you think about the two machines. I really like the sovereign but if the BHID is better on small gold and will go as deep or deeper then I think this may be the way to go. I thought about buying the DFPI but not sure I want to did so many targets.. At any rate would love you opinion's... I have a CZ 21 I use for the water as well.

I've had a GT for almost three years. If your talking sand , wet or dry, the GT is the best. I bought a BHID to water hunt. I've had it a year and it works great in the water and goes deep if you set it up for AM and max senitivity. It will find small gold. . The only problem with the GT on the beach is you have to be careful that a wave doesn't sneak up on you. It is not waterproof. Of course no problem with the BHID. My only complaints on the BH is the offset rod . I'm going to go to a straight shaft. This will also help in holding the coil down The other is the volume, with no volume control. I put rubber pads in the headphones to cut it back. Don

Thanks Don,
It has been such a long time since I have found a gold chain it makes me wonder but I remember finding gold chains with my old xs 2a pro with the S 12 Inturder coil. I've thought about buying another sunray coil and this might be the answer or even a 8 inch coil for my GT
again thanks
HH Tom

That's why I've held on to my Sov XS 2a pro best ID hunter I've ever used.

straight shaft on these is sweet, and I cant help you with the comparison I have only had three ex cal. ll's

Hi there, I'm a long time user of the Excal., I'm curious about what your thoughts are with regards to the BHID vs Excal performance for rings & coins & depth. Thanks, I too have been looking at the BHID for salt & fresh water hunting lately.

I HAVE HUNTED SIDE BY SIDE WITH A LONG TIME EXCAL USER....I DUG A 14K BAND....HE COULD NOT HEAR WITH THE EXCAL!!! I GOT THE TONE CALLED HIM OVER...HE CHECKED IT IN DISC AND PIN PIONT MOD....NO TONE!! THE 300 WILL GET ALOT OF EARINGS AND CHAINS THE EXCAL WILL NOT

AWESOME,,,have you had any luck with small gold chains with the BHID? Thanks

Hi,

I did own a GT but changed it for a dedicated water machine. The GT is a really nice machine but not for me.

I didn't really like the threshold system used on it and thought it nulled too much over some good targets. The recovery speed was also something that bothered me at times.

I'm not knocking the machine, It's a super detector and everyone has their preferences when it comes to detectors.

I know alot of hunters love the GT and do well with it.

The BHID 300 (had mine upgraded with the Super 12" coil) is just a fantastic underrated machine! It really has great depth for a VLF and is hot on smaller targets.

The new coil is a breeze to work through the water and pinpoints real well too.

I use multiple machines as no one is perfect for everything! However, the BHID with the newer coil works better than the stock coil (better stability, depth, covers more ground).

This is now my "grab first" machine when heading to the beach. The recovery is lightning fast and I can whip around the wet and dry areas fast and not miss a thing.

One other thing, this is the only water machine that can run in "all metal" AND still have target id to help show what you're digging!

We all know that AM mode is best to not miss targets and provides super depth too!!!

Oh yeah, almost forgot to mention that I have the same setup as Floridabill :clapping:

I can hunt for hours and hours without any fatigue! If you get the new machine, do yourself a favor and get the straight shaft too!!!

Thanks and HH!!!!!

Hi Diggindirt ..The reason I went with a BHID for water hunting was because of the good reports you and Beach Hunter posted. When I first got mine last fall you guys were going to the 12 coil. Taking my stock coil off and going with the bigger coil at that time didn't seem worth it (Putting a brand new coil in the drawer). Now that I have more experience with it I'm going to go to the 12 inch. Would you again outline the procedure for me?. One question - do you ever operate in a Disc mode set up with tones? We have minimum junk in the water here in NW Florida and AM works great, but as yet I have not decoded AM signals to any advantage like I can with the GT... HH Don

in am when the targets are super deep sometimes iron will read yellow.(personally for the depth I'm getting with the 9.5 I don't care and i'll dig anyway) Also it seems like non-iron is a narrower / smaller signal. If this machine works as good in freshwater my Stingray 2 will be collecting dust!!

First chance I get I'll try it out. Also wondering with the extra depth form AM I may take it Civil War relic hunting in the woods and see how it does! If it would only get 80 deg out, lol. It would have to work pretty hard to go deeper than my 1265X w/ 12 inch hot head coil! If it works good in the freshwater and in the woods I could clear out 2 machines from my arsnal. Then I'd only have 6 or is it 8??? lol. Thanks again for the tip!

Sounds great! I'd take the BHID and an the old Tesoro Bandito(brown plastic box) w/ 4 inch/7 inch coils. For hvy iron infestations they are the best (old ones) bar none. You'd be shocked at the amount of targets these lil buggers can find in a "worked out" area.
