BHID questions

Hey guys. I just got finished putting together my BHID that I bought off ebay. Got it for a pretty good price and the seller said that it had been sent to whites to have the o-ring replaced and pressure tested. Mine is one of the ones with the 9.5 coils with the cross on them. Everytime i turn the sensitivity knob it beeps. I mean it beeps with even the most minor adjustment, almost even when i just touch it. Is this normal?? Everything seems to be working correctly, just curious about that. I have been metal detecting for around 15 yrs and this is my first water detector. Heading to the beach in a few days and cant wait to try this thing out!! I've always had to stay in the dry sand. Cant wait to get in the surf. Thanks in advance for the input.

When you switch on just out of detent and then bring the sensitivity up to the preset there should be no sound in the All Metal mode and then as you wind the sensitivity down the tone will sound and a light will come on, usually the white/yellow one. It will sound with just a slight movement of the sens control.

In the disc mode the detector will sound and the lights will flash as you move the sens control either up or down.

The threshold should return to your selected setting quickly after each movement of the sens control.

You will find that the BHID is nice and quiet in the surf but can play up a bit on black sand.

I don't think that's a problem,i have a SurfPI that will do the same thing...no problems when set and hunting.GL

Thanks to all that responded. I got to play with the BHID today, I believe all is ok. I also went ahead and got over my fear and dunked it in a bucket to check for leaks. Now all I got to do is air up the tires in my wheelbarrow to haul all them rings off the beach next week:bouncy: Cant wait!!

Hey onei when in the water hunt in all metal mode and when on a target switch to disc and see what it might be --this will let you decide if you need to dig or not. On the beach leave in disc and go--get a super 12--plugger straight shaft and turn your coil 180 degrees so that it is faceing you--you might like it. Nice to see post about the BHID--it is a great detector--and don't pass up on digging those faint nulls that you will hear.

Arc I thought the lights would lite in the identifying range of a detected target even in AM mode on the BHID.. Least this is what I read about it when I was researching for my first water machine, and was pretty impressed by a well thought out design feature like that.

May pick one up in the future and like the 180
