BHID Interference

Had my 12" coil installed several months ago and the last few times out to the beach my machine has started to act crazy. I'm just wondring if anybody else out there has experienced the same issue? I never had a problem with the 9" coil and I'm wondering if the larger coil is picking up some signals on the beach I'm working? Really considering switching back to the smaller coil.

I won the super 12 at our club meeting & gave it to my friend last year. He sent it to Whites service in Va. to install it. This summer he started to use it & it started to go crazy on him after the 2nd week.He took it to our detector store & they sent it to Va. Out come water in the coil. Installed a new one everything was fine till 2 weeks ago. You guessed it, water again. Now these were the black coils. Sent it back & he just got it back friday with the new yellow coil.Used it today seemed fine. This is what they say , the plastic on the orignal black coil is much thinner then the new black coils thats on the DFX & MXT 300 & also on the BHID yellow coil. There is a very big difference in the thickness from the older to the new.

That's very interesting, because I have the black coil also. Are you saying that water got in through the seam? I was thinking about replacing my coil and going back to the 9", but I'm worried about loosing the extra depth. Since you're a BHID user, do you have any thoughts on this?

Not sure were the water is coming in, this was with the orig black thin plastic 12 " coils. With the new yellow & the black coils on the DFX, MXT. it's thicker plastic. So far my friend is not seeing any problems. He's been useing it every day. He did say the sensitivity seems a little softer. Last night at our club meeting a member had to send his orig. 12" back to Va. What I mean by orig. When Whites first came out with the 12s & you sent your BHID to Va. to have the coils replaced. Now whatever happens you will not have to worry about it, because your dealing with Whites & they will take very good care of there customers. What BeachHunter sez is also another way to go , take your coil covers off & apply the mix. Good Luck

One other thing , if you apply the mix you will probably loose your guarantee on the coil. And if you decide to put the 9 1/2" back on you will still get GREAT depth with the program, you will just loose some ground cover

Does that epoxy come in a spray? Is it mainly available from marine supply stores or can I get it anywhere else? Thanks for the tip.

If I ask Whites to reinstall the 9" coil do you know what they will charge?
