tony ive never used a q/s so i cant comment on that but i do have and love my tracker iv i haven't done a lot of beach hunting with it but when i have Ive never had any problems the tracker seems to be a great coin magnet very easy to use even though i have a land star i still use and enjoy the tracker id recommend it to anyone all in all a great machine for the money in my opinion good luck h/h:bouncy:

Tony,

If you are new to metal detecting then I personally feel that the Quick Silver is easier to setup/use due to its one touch notch target rejection feature. They use the same coil and the depth seems to be the same for both metal detectors. Also the digital target id of the quick silver and the 3 tone audio discrimination system makes it superior over the Tracker IV.

i have a q/s i have used it on the beach it did ok in sand but when i used the coil in the salt water it sets off all the tones the minerals in the salt water did it . it helps alot to discriminate iron then the machine works better in water. for the sand i love it for a beginner and it works great for parks with a 4 tone for different metals. but after liking the hobby you will want to upgrade thats the hazard of this hobby ha ha.

i like the q/s for a beginner its great for parks with 4 modes of disc . for the salt water you have to disc iron for the machine to work right, but in the sand it works great , . its a great beginners m/d . be sure to buy the 4"gold nugget coil.it will find more things getting closer to metal objects in parks (swings slides playground equipment thats steel)without setting off the detector. the hazard is you will like the hobby and want to upgrade later, ha ha

Quicksilver with bigger coil might be the way to go. I have the Quicksilver it will grab coins. I like it alot but the coil that comes with it only finds coins down to around 7 inches
