BH Quick Silver

I used my new Quick Silver for the first time today and was really pleased with its performance. I'm wondering if anyone has any tips or tricks for this machine. I can't wait till spring so I can have some real fun with it..

Can you snap a photo of the control face? I have not seen the Quick Silver yet in stores around my area...

Thanks,

Also, if you could tell me how often you get false signals with the unit...It is supposed to have a circuit that eliminates false signals...trying to picture in my head how they managed this...must be some sort of auto SENSitivity function...

Hmmm...interesting interface....just 4 buttons, and 2 that really do anything...the reject button is obviously a notch function...the depth button is a re-worked SENSitivity button...the shallower you set it, the less SENS you dial in. I kinda Like it...Still almost the type of detector you want to dig all signals with only having 4 discrimination segments....leaves a lot of items in one segment. I think that if you start out digging every signal you hear, your gonna do well...You WILL dig a lot of trash, but I also think your gonna dig some good stuff too...

I only got a few false signals today while i was using it. They were pretty easy to identify, just a quick tone blip. I did notice that on full sensitivity I had to be careful how i walked because it would pick up my steel toe boots. I also noticed that the faster I swept the more false signals I got, Slow sweeping yielded almost no false returns In forty five to sixty minutes of use i had maybe 20 false signals which were easily identified. I was hunting on about 12 - 18 inches of snow, more in some spots. I found the coin under about 8 inches of snow(The snow being hard enough to support my 185 lbs). I also got a real strong coin tone return with the sensitivity on the middle setting through 5 inches of snow and an unknown thickness of ice. I couldn't retrieve that item because of the ice, I'll be going back after it after the thaw.

I got in good with a guy from True Green Lawn Care...they have those flags you put on the lawn after they spray or fertilize...I got him to sell me a whole box of em...I use them as markers...I will detect a 100x20 yard area or so, mark out all my targets, then come back after covering the grid and dig em all...I carry a permanent marker to mark down what each item showed on the readout...I think it makes for more productive hunting...find all the targets first, then dig em up...
