This is the first bounty hunter i ever bought so i don't know what kind of batterys these machines like to eat, all detectors are diffrent so i wanted to ask, i know my fisher doe's well with alkaline not so well with rechargeables i don't know why. any way i know some batterys will make a detector act like there is an electrical problem, weather they are alkaline or recharge. so thats my question about the BH Platinum. any help would be great. thanks.
I have had real good luck using rechargeable NiMH batteries. The PowerEx 9.6V are what I use in both my Platinum and Time Ranger. All 9V rechargeables are not the same. Some of the cheapies can swell or burst in a rapid charger. Some are only 8.4V and won't give you as much detecting time. Some are slightly larger than alkalines and could possibly be a tight fit. A good quality charger and good quality batteries are important if you go with rechargeables.
Whatever you decide use only alkalines or quality rechargeables. The so called "heavy duty" type batteries would be risky to use and I believe are not recommended by Bounty Hunter.
Good luck and Happy Hunting with your new Platinum.
If you can find yourself a good deal on the Duracell pro cells, they are a really good battery. I find mine at a close out type of store and get a good deal. They are the longest lasting alkaline I have found so far and give good performance during use. I also like the energizer industrials as well. That was what came with my pin pointers when I bought them. I own two bounty hunters now and use the pro cells as much as I can. It stinks to have to change batteries in the middle of a hunt. Maybe in the future they will come out with a solar powered detector, just a thought. That would revolutionize the industry if it worked good. Good luck and hh.
