Hi folks

I'm new to the site, just getting back into the hunt now that all the kids are up and gone, after 41 years in construction I find myself unemployed with time on my hands and alot of drywashes here in arizona begging to be looked at, a few years ago my wife gave me a BH Pioneer 101 and now that I have finaly taken it out of the box I need some pointers from you pro's, that is if you don't mind helping a newbie, I've played with it a little and find if I have the disc on I dont

get any tones, is it just me or do I need to use it with the disc off??

Thanks for your time shadetree

The Pioneer 101 is the same machine as the Tracker IV.

Here is a link to the owner's manual for the Tracker IV.

Search this forum for info on the Tracker IV and apply it to your machine.

Good luck and have fun.

Thank you Mark you are a life saver I really needed that info! I mean its brand new never been used but the book for it went away god knows when, and I didn't want to go out in the desert not having the basics, I'm a newbie anyway you look at it and going out blind would be stupid, so again thanks and anymore tips you might have would be well received by me, maybe I'll have beginners luck! shadetree

Better yet, this is the ACTUAL manual for the 101:

http://www.detecting.com/pdffiles/p101man.pdf

Keep your SENS as high as you can without the detector giving false signals constantly, and keep your DISC at no more than 9 o'clock postion...Ignore the meter, and dig every repeatable signal you get, until you get to know the machine. You will dig a lot of trash, but you wil also get to know what that trash sounds like...Keep your swings level with the ground and as close to the ground as you can without scuffing the bottom of the coil on rocks and gravel or sand...Do not UFO (lift the coil at the ends of your swings)...
