I see alot of people here useing the BH LandStar.
If it wasn't a good machine I don't think many people
would be useing it. I've never been big on Bounty Hunter MDs
but am willing to keep an open mind.
Whats good about the BH LandStar and how does it
standup with other machines like Garretts and
Whites?

I've been detecting since the mid 80's. Used them all. Today I use 2 detectors, a Bounty Hunter Landstar and Fisher F75. The LS reminds me of the old Compass "Scanner" series detectors (which I really like) only with a digital display. It really is hard to beat with the small coil in trashy sites. Depth is as good/better as any mid level detector. Target ID is very accurate.

The LandStar is my only detector at the moment...I have owned 3 BH machines...The Pioneer 202, Pioneer 505, and now the LandStar...I chose the machine for it's cost, and it's reputation for being a deep seeking, accurate machine...I have found the Discrimination on the LandStar to be phenomenal...I get pennies at 8" on a regular basis, and larger objects up to 18 inches (this is the deepest whole I have dug, turned out to be an old gas cap off a lawn mower...lol). The LandStar is a Quarter and Dime HOG...she gives a pure, clean, sharp high ping on these coins. With the 4" coil, she cannot be beat for finding coins and jewelry among pull-tabs and can slaw...I would recommend the machine to anyone interested...
