BH Discovery 3300 Ground balance.

Does anyone know if the ground balance is active in the discrimination mode or if it just is just for the AM pinpoint mode? From reading the manual I got the impression that in discrimination the GB is preset. If anyone is using one I would sure like to hear what you think of it. Is the Fisher F4 the basically same machine with a different coil?
