BH 10" coil

What's the max. depth on the 10" vice the 8" coil ? I know that you can cover more ground with the 10", but how much deeper does it detect. :twodetecting:

According to my beach experience with European coins, I would say 1 to 1,5" more depth at the preset sens setting, and 2 to 3" more depth at the max. sens setting. At this last setting, however, my units (Lonestar/QDII) still detect deep targets (Over 7") but with an incorrect ID (one segment lower).

max depth? kind of a loaded question. That all depends. On what machine, mode, soil condition, etc...? I think the deepest I've ever had the 10" coil go was in all metal mode on my SSII. I found a very old corroded pan in very mild soil at a full arms length deep. I'm 6'1" (and proportionally correct). Air testing my 10" in all metal will find a full sized F-150 at around 3 ft. Don't ask how i know that. In a disc/notch mode, I would guess you may gain an extra inch or two. My 10 loves deep pop cans at 10-16 inches in disc mode. They seem to look like quarters. There is enough of a noticeable difference in depth and ground coverage that my 10 rarely comes off. Sorry I couldn't make more comparisons to the 8, but I don't use it that much. GL & HH, JJ
