BFL Bill Ladd --- Phone me

or 1235, whichever it is as soon as I meet Mr. Bill @ this new Thai place I discovered ....(it will be a 1235 on a Edge rod w. a small coil for thick iron).
Jackpine, any tips to get me goin? Is this a manual ground bal or fixed? If I print off the 1236x-2 manual from FRL that will go over balancing right?
thanks , Bill
PS. also gunna borrow his 1270 for VA & maybe try it @ that musketball site if the dang ground is diggable! :ranting:

Yeah..Leave it in the car. Seriously, it probably would not be worth your time there. If you use the 1270 (and you should) run it in iron disc REAL low like around 4 (most shallow nails double beep at 4) or maybe 5 at max to hear the deeper small targets... listen for the soft whispers. Volume at 4 helps "sometimes" to be able to run the sens hotter than you normally can.

it's a 1235x, not a 36-x2 & just asking how to ground bal. I believe the x-2 is fixed??....(sorry I was talkin about 2 units @ once). I just hate bobbing to balance....& no, the 1235 aint even going to VA. I'm gonna play with it for 1 thing only....iron loaded sites with my 3" sniper coil....Will be a great test to see if I missed anything with the C$/Edge/Excel & the 8".......

Bill,

Let us know how that little sniper coil works out. I picked up one of the elliptical coils a while back and it has a 7' cable which is the first I have seen. Can't wait to try it out too. Mr. Bill said the one he has gets very good depth.

it was basically a turn on & go type deal on the 1235.....the 1270 is another matter, as I have to learn to balance it & I hate bobbing. On the 1235 does the frequency control matter really? I experience a bit of chatter just over the + side, so I turned it down to the (-) side some....that wouldn't affect depth at all would it?? I did some airtests w. the 3.5" sniper on a nickel & got a good 5-6" inside which I thought was good.......but man oh man I had forgotten how deep the 1270 really is :surprised: I'll have to try the sniper on that too.

I always left the freq control centered unless there was obvious interference. A couple spots I did have to turn it to the minus side. It should not affect performance at all.
