How are these pics dahut? i think I'm going to stick with MD. O by the way I ordered me up a Deleon should be here this week..Still about 3 feet of snow here and the snow bank are at least 5' to 6' high. Rats have to do alot of air tests in doors.

Definitiely NOT a button. Looks like a breast piece, of some sort.
Glad you're sticking with it! Nice find.
Thanks Bozack I just received my New Deleon can't wait to use it.

...you mentioned the year 1900 which war whould that have been?
I was wrong. The first pics were fuzzy and it looked like a great coat button, pre WWI.
Now it still looks like its from the same general period, maybe a few decades prior. But its no button. It may be a medal hanger, or as I said, a breast medallion... or something else, entirely. It doesn't look like a minted strike, so it may be a spurious item.

I hate to say it, but I still cant see it well. Is that an inscription of some sort, around the rim?

That being said, I'd suggest it is a spurious issue of some kind. "E Pluribus Unum (Out of Many, One)," is the official motto of the United States, reserved by law for coinage/currency only. I am no expert, but I'm about as certain as certain can be THAT is no official, US minted coin. I suspect, instead, that it is some sort of medal, token, patriotic thingamabob ~ you get the idea.
TIme for some research.
