Best Weekend Yet!

Beale

New member
So this weekend I decide to go to a new park. I was withen sight of the park and noticed an older ball field. Went on into the park, and looked around. Decided to go back to the ball field. It looked older and just felt "right".

My hunch was correct my Saturday hunt turned out fantastic. I found $4.40 in clad with 11 quarters. Best clad day yet. I also found a very nice 925 silver necklace, my first. It is whole and complete, what a rush. Another cool find was a circa 1920-1930 Princess Pat Rouge compact.

I went back to the same spot Sunday. I pulled another $2.90 out of the ground. I plan on going back here. One major reason is that at least 50% of the clad dates early 1970's to mid 80's. I am hoping for some silver.

So my weekend was a great time for me, Beale.

Sounds like you found a great location to work on! Anything from the previous generation or more is fascinating... What sort of condition was the compact in?

The compact is in great shape. Nothing missing. The hinge is still intact. The only problem is on the opposite side of the hinge (the opening side). It has been pushed down. I am scared to try to open it for fear of it breaking. I can hear something inside it could be loose rouge or dirt. It is still exciting to find that kinda stuff, Beale.

Nice finds and when are you going back ??

Sometimes it pays to play those hunches. The silver is out there, not much left but it's there. After 40 years of detecting by others, we have our work cut out to find it. Looks like you had a good weekend. Ron

Remember back before TV and PC's at least in my area in the 40's perhaps a 1,000 people gathered for some real good baseball on Sunday....Heres a tip a side hill adjacent to the field where people may have sat could be a sort of gold mine.

I plan on going back this coming weekend. Right now that is the only time I get, with the time change.

It is fun just being out and hunting I enjoy it even when the pickens get slim, Beale.
