My brother is looking fore something in the 600 dollar range. He would like to do a little coin shooting and some relic hunting, up here in NJ.. Any of you guys have a thought on the subject?[sup][/sup]

There are any number of detectors on the market that will do what he wants. Keep an eye on the for sale ads in the forum and you can pick up a nice machine for considerable less than suggested retail. However tell him that there are two things that he will need in addition to a detector. (1.) A digging tool. I use a Lesche Digging Tool. Do Not Take A Shovel to a Public park etc. (2.) A Pin Pointer. Both Garrett and Minelab market them.

He purchased the Garret AT Pro, we were a little disappointed with the package deal, very cheap stuff. I should of expected that. The AT PRO is fine, I feel it is a good metal detector for the money. I am by no means qualified to judge MD I only used a few. My brother is happy he can be part of the fun, that is all that is important. The setup comes with a great DVD, an hour long, I have the Safari, it only came with the user manual. I had to buy the Safari Hand Book.
