Best Tesoro for beach?

Bromly

Member
Hi guys

I was wondering what's the best performing Tesoro for the beach?I do have a compadre now and love it.But would like a machine that I can GB when going from wet to dry sand. Also black sand is an issue here, most of my machines lose alot of depth because of that stuff.

Thanks!
Ken

Bromly, I spend nearly 100% of my time in the water, seldom do the actual beach so I don't know how helpful this is to you.

In salt water, actually in the water, the Sand Shark in great. It is deep, is not effected by changes in water depth, some machines can't handle the changes in distance between the surface of the water and the coil caused by the rising and falling of the waves. Also, the thin cross section of Tesoro coil glides through the water much easier than most. The old Whites Surfmaster PI is the closet competitor. I really like the VCO search option on the Sand Shark too. But I personally wouldn't use the Sand Shark in fresh water. I use a Fisher CZ20 or CZ21 there. The CZ's are pretty good in salt water and i do use them there in really iron infested areas, but they can't compete with the PI.

I had a Tiger Shark at one time but couldn't get on with it. Mine chattered quite a no mater how the sensitivity or ground balance was set. Before that I had a Stingray 2. It was very stable and with I hadn't sold it.

I currently own a Deleon, Cibola, the Sand Shark, two CZ21's and a CZ20. I've owned lots of other machines but keep coming back to Tesoro.

Hello and thank you for your feed back. I also have a SandShark and a few other machines. I'm really interested in a tesoro machine that can perform well in the dry and wet sand. Not in the water, maybe tesoro does'nt have a machine like this atm.
I'll keep researching for now.

Thanks again!

Bromly, I have used my Eldorado (Umax type) quite a lot in dry sand on saltwater beaches...once even used it in the water. I think it is a great performer in the dry sand. I tend to use the 10" x 12" coil or the 8" dd coil, and the depth I get is comparable to any other VLF machine I've used. Of course the Eldorado has been superceded by the Vaquero, and as I dont own one, I cant comment. I have also used my Cibola at the beach, and it is very good as well, but I prefer my Eldorado (in All Metal mode). HH Pete

That's some good info, I never thought about trying the Vaquero in the sand.
Thank you Pete!
