for all you who know the F2 i need help. it chatters like an old atari game. i know its not defective..at least i hope its not. what would be the best setting for it? I currently run in it in all metal with about 4 bars.using the standered coil it comes with. ( not the 4 inch) i can say though that the pinpointer on it is right on....help would be great as i am still trying to figure it out, thanx in advance for any advice. my hunting grounds are parks and schools. mainly.

Decrease Sensitivity further. Don't worry about losing depth. It will be nominal if at all. Parks and schools will be loaded with trash, as well. Learn to discriminate and notch out unwanted targets.

Have you read the instructions yet? I recall you saying that you rushed out right after unpacking and assembling and "didn't take the time to read anything." If you haven't taken that time yet, I suggest that you should...

I would also suggest giving the 4" coil a try. The Atari chattering may be lots of trash scattered around. The 4'' will get around and between it all.

Good Luck & HH

You may want to notch out the iron if you're not relic hunting, also turn down the sensitivity one bar at a time. I've been using the F2 for a while and know how fast and sensitive it is. I am constantly adjusting the sens all the time. If I get into a trashy area I turn the sens down some, pick thru the signals then turn the sens back up to get the deeper hits.
Another strategy I use is when I come into a trashy area is to swing the machine to determine the size of the area and find a relatively quiet spot and pick out the targets as I go thru the area. Good Luck!!
