best ring finder

snoop & scoop

New member
If you had to pick one detector for find rings on a fresh water beach, or dry bed, what would it be? I've heard the Tesoro Compadre is very good. thanks.

Howdy snoop
The Compadre would be good choice, just don't dunk it in the water........bad for electronics. Your best finds will be ankle deep to chest high water, then you will need an underwaterdetector. My choice for fresh water hunting would be a Tiger Shark, great anywhere, it is a true all terrain detector. I've had mine for 9 years, never had a problem with it,batterys last all season.MY 2 zincs

snoop&scoop,
Did I read before that you have a Cibola?
The Cibola will find gold very well if you don't discriminate it out.
If you aren't going into the water and only hitting the beach part, it will do the job well. I have used my Cibola on beaches and got into the water up to about knee deep and found jewelry. With the Cibola only get into the shallow water when it is calm and you are sure of the footing. If you get the electronics wet, it is all over!
My Cibola does very well around fresh water areas, but over the wet parts of salt water beaches is not quite the same great performer.

If you want to get into the water and not worry about the electronics (and get in up to your arm pits; deeper if you do scuba), go for the Tiger Shark!

snoop&scoop, I have used my Eldorado U max on many saltwater beaches and once in the surf...a mate also used his Cibola in the shallow surf (salt water)...both successfully....but..shallow water only. best of luck, Sapper.

Most detectors will do a good job! set the discrimination low and dig the trash and you'll do okay . That's if the spot your at has lots of visitors losing
jewelry. God bless 'em!
