Best Rec. Gain recommendation Anomaly?

I have watched the recommended RX gain on the screen on most settings and coils show a 15 with coil raised, in the air and 8 to 12 with the coil lowered on the ground .

With the Filter on 5 BAND, and DD stock coil I was seeing the reverse/ opposite? Suggested Rx. 10 -coil raised in the air, and 12 with coil on the ground. consistently every time I checked. I then placed the rx on 3 and checked and saw the same .

Is this typical?

That's the same for me too. Your checking with the coil just at a stable hover right? The probe readings are just a suggestion and can usually be upped a bit. I kind of stay on the safe side for a lot of my hunts and crank up response speed. (Still have to get out to a place that has potential for lots of old deep stuff and there I'll push the settings and slow down.) Have only hunted a few "pockets" of deep target possiblities and worked nice.

Nothing unusual there. I can't find the post but Carl mentioned that some not V nulled coils would read better on the ground then in the air. I've found for me that my goal is to get the highest stable discrimination. I turn the sensitivity up until it gets unstable then back down the RX and repeat the process.

All coils v Nulled.
My V nulled DD is the only coil that reads a higher rx setting on the ground than in the air, compared to my other v Nulled coils.

in the air constant recomend RX gain 8 , on the ground 10 -12

Does not seem to be defective.

I didn't mean you didn't have V coils I was just referring to the fact that some Non V coils actually got better on the ground. It just makes sense it would happen with the variations in coils. I don't think you have anything to worry about. Rob
