Best place to get a lower shaft for my etrac?

Can't help with the price, but wanted to pass along a word of caution/advice. According to Kellyco, Minelab no longer provides the attaching hardware with the lower shaft. You will have to purchase a "Minelab Coil Wear Kit" separately. The Wear Kit includes the necessary nuts, washers, and bolts to attach the lower shaft to the coil. Cost of the Wear Kit is $25.00 (from Kellyco). Also, if you can afford it I'd suggest purchasing the upper shaft also; much easier to switch coils that way since you have to remove the upper shaft anyway to disconnect the coil from the box.

You might call New England Detectors, I got a good price for a tall man shaft and the coil wear kit for a very reasonable price.

Maybe I will just forgo the convenience of having an extra lower shaft and take the time to just switch the coils. By the time you buy the shaft and pay extra for the hardware you have over $100 in it. I don't plan on switching that often that it would be worth that kind of money to me. The price seems rather ridicules to me.

I should add that the Wear Kit does have enough hardware to attach two coils to two lower shafts. I agree that the price is pretty steep. If you do buy at a hardware store be sure to get non-metallic hardware.

on the "detector accessery classified forum". I bought 2 lower shafts at a reasonable price not long ago.

Personally I would stay away from New England Detectors... I placed an order little more then two weeks ago and still can't not get a tracking number from them.
Before I ordered Justin from N.E.D. said all parts were in stock. Last week I come to find out that none of it was in stock and they would ship the minelab directly to me since I live in Northern IL and close to Minelab in Lisle, IL.
Well a week later and still no detector and I can't even get a tracking number from them or a return call.

So pretty much buy from another company that wants the business llike colonial Detectors or Big Boys Hobbies. Both of them are very good returning emails. The only reason I ordered from N.E.D. is because they were giving a 15" Coiltek coil with the detector. Hmm maybe that wasn't a very good deal after all. :ranting:
