Best PI Unit for the salt water and wet sand?

was hoping people could share there opinions/experience on this subject have a VLF machine looking for a PI machine for the beach wet sand some water and for the rain around $800 mark.

Everyone will tell you something different but if it was me there are two choices... the Whites Dual Field or the Detector Pro Headhunter PI...

i was looking at the whites and then read it doesn't work in black sand? this can be a very frustrating trying to find what does what i want it to without using it, i have a few black sand beaches i want to try and just get down and dirty at the shoreline i was all set to buy the whites until i Read that.

i thought that PI machines were made to go through materialized sand/soil?

thanks heaps for sharing i am confused a bit i have a gold bug pro and i love it but i think i may be missing somethings in the ring range as by nature they would be deeper? i have found some gold and silver jewelry but it hasn't been deep, gold bug loves coins and will use it for that just want to hunt some gold

I have an Excal II and a White's Dual Field PI. If the black sand is heavy enough, no detector will work great, however, the Dual Field is the best detector I have ever used in the black sand (out of the 12 I have owned). HH!

think i might just get myself one will be different than the gold bug maybe i better buy a shovel

For the price range you mentioned the answers were given. HH Pulse and Whites DF. I have the HH Pulse and like it very much. I used the eight inch coil last year and had a blast with it. I picked up the bigger coil this past winter and I'm really looking forward to using it. I hear there is a learning curve with the bigger coil as far as pinpointing, but I also picked myself up a larger scoop. As far as black sand goes I really think this is where the PI would show it's superiority to a VLF. The only place a PI has problems is in the junk. If you water hunt there is less of that. You take it up in the dry sand where it doesn't belong you have problems. Simple!

yep gold bug for junk sites and PI for the wet sand and in the water it will be interesting to see how far i get in the water i just see all that beach that i am not using and as far as i know no one else is around here so i might have a bit of fun and get some big muscles

If you buy the HH pi maybe You will have problems whit flood and whit the conecction headphone-wire coil

Don't think you'll go wrong with the dual field PI. I use a Whites Surf PI Pro in the black sand and don't have a problem. All those that I know using the dual field PI say it's much better. But as you know, be ready to dig a lot and dig deep. I have dug really small stuff at well over a foot. JMHO

its sounding better all the time thanks heaps for sharing your experience on the DF sounds like i am going to have fun cant wait to see whats down there in the wet sand from what i am seeing and hearing i wont be disappointed.

That was a fixed deal with them 6 or 7 years ago. One look at the made units since then, and it would be quite apparent that was taken care of.
