Best older detector for beach hunting?

Ron SDakota

New member
Left this same question on the "White's Main Detecting Forum" about beach hunting deterctors. I have an MXT, Eagle II sl, CMstr 4B and an old Alaskan. I think the general concensus is that none of my detectors are very good for beach hunting. I'm moving to Tampa next month and was wondering what older White's detectors have a good reputation for being a versatile beach hunting detector? Just can't shell out big bucks right now for a "new" detector! Thanks for any inputs! Ron of SDakota :help:

I understand the MXT is a very solid performer on salt water beaches.

Something else, you must pay me a toll tax in order to gain entry to Florida. Right now it's set at $100. per head.

But John, I've owned a homne is South Tampa since 1990, left in 1994 and had to pay tax's all that time. Does'nt that count for anything? (Just have to send some tourist home to make room for me!)
