Hello guys... I need your help. I am new to this hobby but I want the best detector. Money doesn't matter. I want to here what you think of these. Pros and cons... I want to relic and coin hunt... Mainly in woods and Fields in NC...

Minelab Safari
Mibelab Explorer SE Pro
Minelab E-trac
Garrett GTI 2500 Pro
Garrett Infinium LS
Whites DFX 300
Whites Spectra V

Please help.

Thanks

You might ask that at: http://www.findmall.com/list.php?18

Jerry

From your list, I have used the DFX and SE Pro and I prefer the V3 to either of those.

I've used the the GTI , DFX and currently have the V3 and the V3 is by far the most advanced I've seen or used. The wireless headphones are awsome. I have used all Whites machines except for the GTI in my 33 years of detecting and they are the best in quality and service. There service is second to none if you do have a problem. Oh yeah there MADE IN THE USA a big plus in my book.

Fisher F75 just find my posts and videos

Hi,

If you are new then you probably drop the Infinium from your list. It is a pulse induction unit and so probably not what you are looking for.

There is no best detector. You'll get as many opinions as you want but at the end of the day will probably be no closer to getting an answer. Since you are asking on the V3 forum guess what you might get for an answer. Out of all the units you listed the only one I'm using right now is the V3. Does not mean the other units are not good. Go ask the same question on the Explorer forum and you'll get a different answer.

Met a guy one time that was giving praise to his "off the sporting goods shelf" metal detector. I was thinking "This poor misdirected man". Well...he opened his box and I shut my mouth. His finds were remarkable! You like what you've grown into and this gentleman definitely knew his machine so...whatever detector you get (sounds like your looking at good ones) will do you right... if you learn it well. The V3 is just such a major departure from past stuff and we are really enjoying "growing into it". Best of luck to ya.

Well said. I just attented a club hunt where everyone had either a DFX or a Vision and everyone got blowed away from a guy using a 30 year old whites 6000.... You have to know your machine!

OK ... Money dont matter.

For relic hunting ... The new White's TID Pulse PI.

For Coin and jewelry ... The new White's Spectra V3 or a Minelab E-Track.

For in the water ... Minelab Excalibur.

These are top of the line machines and WILL take a bit of learning on your part to get the full benefit of the technology.
Wish I had the deep pockets to afford them all.

I will second these great suggestions

Hey Clev

if you have lot's of Patiences, and don't mind one bit to dig a foot deep target to recover a BB from a shot gun Blast, then pick the Garrett Infinium LS as it go's deeeeep!.

I do not have that type of Patiences, nor time, so then I would pick the V3

That's right, and the guy with the 6000 has done the same thing at these hunts the last few years.

Works anywhere. Beach, fields or woods. Simple to use .

If I were to hunt a planted hunt I would choose my old Fisher 1265-X over my Vision,F75,Explorer SE Pro or E-Trac .

I used the Vision/V3 the day after it's public introduction for a seeded hunt in Texas and it was totally awesome. I used the coins program and the V was incredibly fast, hearing 3 or 4 silver dimes in one fast swing time and again. I think it is impossible to go too fast in a seeded hunt with the V3. I ended up with 110 dimes, much better than average.

Personely I would stay away from Garrett machines, had a 2500 and the depth was not good...My hunting buddy uses a minelab safari and hes hitting alot of junk that reads as coins, I have to go over to check them out with my etrac to tell him what they are...As for the etrac, you have to run the sensitivity past 23 to get a good depth in my area and just have to deal with the falsing....

Yes ... or a Troy X2, a Tesoro, or some other such lightweight machine.
Seeded hunting events are a lot different than other types of coin hunting.
The tokens and/or coins are not very deep and are fresh planted.
You want something light and quick to recover as many as you can as fast as you can.
The total number of recovered targets is what is important as it is a matter of "odds".
The more targets you can recover the better your odds of finding a token or other valuable item.
