Whites Spectra V

Please help.

You have a list there..... You can go to Kelly Co Detectors and do a compare....

I am a Minelab guy and I started my search last year asking the same questions. ( I had another detector and after a hunt competition I decided to find another detector) I choose the Minelab because it using 28 different freqs. This is a jump ahead of any other detector. The reason it is important is, the lower freqs can go deeper and the higher freqs have increase sensitivity. Because you want to do multiple hunts you don't need several detectors to do the job with Minelab. I bought the SE and when the E-Trac came out I sold my SE and bought the E-Trac. (A little secret, I thought I made a mistake after getting my SE, I was overwhelmed. However, I stuck with it and in no time I found I really understood the detector)

I think your best bet is to lurk for a bit and read the different forums. Do a search on the subject, but change the dates to all (at the bottom on the search), you will find a lot of information to help you make a informed decision.

If money doesn't matter I would go with an e-trac or an SE the SE is like a wild mustang the ET is a tame one both go deep the Safari is an fbs but lacking all the bells and whistles allot of the whites guys here want an ET hope this helps but the is Minelab country HH

I had the same list back in March. I asked many questions and got allot of differing opinions. After comparing all the options the E-trac stood out above the rest by far for the same money or less. In all fairness though I went into the search with a desire to buy a whites. Never heard of Minelab before doing my search. If the Spectra would have been available back then I might have looked hard at it but bought my E-trac last week of March and have never regretted it a bit. I am totally new to the hobby and the E-trac was a little overwhelming at first But after quite a few hours getting to know each other we have made a pretty good match. My 10 year old son was wanting to go out hunting with me so it was a no brain-er to buy another E-trac for a spare. They are both E-tracs with X-1 Sunray Probes. Ralph at sunray has helped me tremendously since I bought them from him. He is an asset to the MD com unity. Now after only a little over a month of part time use I have many silver coins and neat relics to show for my decision.

Good luck with your search, whatever machine you get, it will take some time to get used to the machine, but once you do you will be amazed at what the machines can do for you!

HH,

Dave

also I'm looking to buy a new detector but my list is; SE or ET. I am upgrading from the X-70 and I don't know the SE or the ET.

Perhaps one of the first things to do, while you're deciding, is get Andy Sabisch's book on the Explorer series and the E-Trac. It is probably the most detailed, learning tool available. Opinions are interesting but you are just getting a rehash of other's biases. Study that book and you'll be able to make a much better judgement based on 'how it works' rather than a good guess. However, I got an E-trac, after almost wrapping my SE around a tree, and it was easy and fun in the beginning and now as I learn what all the adjustment do I am ever so slowly getting better finds. It can be a turn on and go machine...or it can be a machine you can really dial in for the targets you are seeking.
Give equal thougt to what accessories you need. Knee pads, Quality headphones, An efficient sturdy digging tool. A probe. (That's easy. Get a Sunray X-1). A belt with some pouches on it to carry trash and good stuff. Learn how to dig properly so you don't create a disaster area that gets us all kicked out of the park, school, etc. Find someone who has the same kind of detector you finally buy and try to spend some time learning from them and following and watching how they do their thing. It's great fun...But that's just another biased opinion. Jim
