Best of both worlds

I have "experimented" with all of the top of the line detectors including the V3i, Excal and Deus - all certainly have their pros and cons.....but I have recently added an AT Pro to go along with my MXT Pro...both are very good detectors...neither are in the price range of the high end ones but from my point of view - they can certainly keep up with their big brothers if you take the time to learn how to use them.

I left the MXT at home and have the AT Pro for beach use here in Florida where I spend the winter....sure there is a little of chatter in the wet sand but you can certainly tell when it hits on a good target.....it will never be in the same league as a multi frequency detector but that is fine with me....I have the 5x8 coil on it and this thing is almost like swinging a Deus as far as weight goes.

Once the weather really warms up, I may even try my luck out in the water (it is a little to cool for me right now)......all that I can say is this detector really is a bargain and is a pleasure to use.

Good testimony Don! Theres a thread ongoing down on the Beach and Water forum you may want to jump in on and add too...sounds like you understand gear and maximize the Pro's strengths when it comes to hunting salt....theres a guy (NYNurse) considering using a VLF for salt beach hunting, so I recommended the Pro..have a look and help him out with all your years experience behind a coil, you certainly know more than I do!

A detector costing lots of money does not equate to a detector getting more finds. You have to give the credit where it is due, and that's the user.
