Hi all
I was just curious as to what the community thought was Tesoros best ever
metal detector,

Haven't had the opportunity to try them all, but best for what? Prospecting, relic hunting, coin shooting, beach and water, or just general overall detecting? For what it's worth my favorites are the Eldorado umax, and either the Silver Sabre umax or the Conquistador umax. On the other hand, the Compadre for the price is outstanding IMHO. I liked the earlier version with the 7" coil, wish I hadn't sold it.
Dig often, find the goodies,

I have tried about every Tesoro except the Cortes and I think they are all great detectors. The Golden

The Toltec 100, although a tad on the heavy side, is a classic that i would love to have again.

....my first Tesoro was the Stingray II. Love it! Still love it. I sold it years ago and recently had the chance to buy it back from the fellow I sold it to. He didn't use it much, so I bought it back from him. Very happy I did. That thing found a ton of civil war relics for me when I lived in NoVA. I also bought a Golden Sabre II which I wasn't very fond of. It worked very well, but I wasn't really into for some reason. Then I traded the sabre for a Tejon which I love also. I like both the Tejon and the Stingray equally. Both are very simple to set up, easy to use and easy to interpret the signals. You know when you've hit a good find with both of those detectors. And both handle the iron extremely well and have lightening quick recovery.

Best fresh water machine!

Eldorado U Max and Silver Sabre II. Have used 7, so cant compare with all others. Wish I hadn't sold the Silver Sabre II...still have the Eldorado.

For searching the old houses in town, and if lucky enough to get permision to hunt such places...........I would pick a Toltec ll or a Toltec 100. In these places, a person has to be neat and tidy in the finding and the retrieval of the older and deeper coins and relics. These older houses almost always have a well maintained lawn and it is handy to know the conductivity and depth of the the targets in the turf, these two detectors have a good allmetal mode with target depth indication on the analog meter. Nice and neat, and makes the home owners happy.

For relic and old coin hunting in a more rustic setting, like a picnic grove, old one room school houses, old country churches, old celler holes (with permission) I like to use a old orig.Bandido or Bandido ll set to minimum disc. and dig every good sounding target. You never know what will turn up at these types of places, and a meter is'nt needed. Just good old fashion fun at these locations.

Just my humble observation.
