Best laid plans -

A couple years back I hit this one play area that I believe had never been done before. I dug all kinds of coins, 2 gold & 1 silver rings. Sure was a great place. Well every 6 months or so I go back and it's never that good. I went there today - dug about 50 coins. I'm not complaining about the coins - just disappointed in no jewelry. I believe it must take some time to build up the dropped jewelry .

So I'm trying to develop patience - or find a new spot ! Good luck to all , Steve in so az

some of the good producers have been almost nil for coins this year. Maybe I hit them first before, I dunno. Guess I'll let them lie for a couple of years and try again. Always looking for new sites but with gas prices what they are, don't do much roaming as before. I have to travel a fifty mile circle to get to schools now.

Dave - Do you keep records of all the schools & parks that you do ? I do this and know just how long ago I was at any given place. This is particularly useful to indicate which places produce gold & silver repeatedly. That's why I have 17 solid gold items this year so far. I go to those places 3-4 times a year and the others maybe 2 times. Steve

after a period of time it compacts and nothing can get in. Would it be cherating to take a garden rake and really mix it up? I can't remember the last time I got 50 coins at one time. Congratulations!

We have a whole lot here also but having very little moisture it always looks like they just laid it down. Don't know which is better for finds - mulch or sand ? Steve
