Best Infinium Coil for Salt and Black Sand

I just got my Infinium. I bought it thinking the Infinium would do better at black sand beaches than my Excaliburs. The deal I got was a new Infinium with 14 DD, 8 mono and water phones. I will also order the 14 mono. For shallow water hunting in the salt I suspect the 14 DD will not be as sensitive as the 14 mono on gold rings. I'm also guessing the 8 mono will go nearly as deep as the 14 mono in average conditions? My main question is for my upcoming Caribbean trip- where I mainly use Excaliburs, there are some black sand beaches and also some beaches with some black sand mixed in. In the past my Excaliburs have been difficult to use at those beaches. In my hot rock bed at home, the Infinium with 8 mono clearly detects gold rings better than my Excaliburs! Will I be able to use the 8 and 14 mono coils at black sand beaches- or do I have to use the 14DD? I would much rather to use the 8 mono at a semi black sand beach that also has a mix of junk and trash. Because I think the 14 mono or DD might see too many targets under the coil in trash conditions? The Infinium will be a test on this trip- so if I had to bring just 1 coil- which? I'm leaning towards the 8 mono? Any advice is greatly appreciated. SH34.

One coil only, I to would go for the 8" mono good for water hunting also, should you by any chance run into a 5x10"DD then bring that to, it's my favorite coil for the Infinium LS. out of water when a lot of work is to be done with a bit of speed.

I also would recomend the 8 inch and the 10 x 5.
Any of the Infinium coils will handle black sand just fine. I find that the big mono and DD seem have about the same sensitivity to ring size items.
The DDs possibly GB slightly easier than the monos but it's a close call.
As Ivanl indicated, you will not go far wrong using the two coils he sugested.

Dear oh dear, I do not recall you Adrian SS aka "Fishers Ghost" ever being in agreement with my view in the past; one could be excused for thinking you might have become of legal and mature age and joined the:ausflag: pensioners league with entitlements of a Centrelink Blue PC Card...............If so, well ........Good for You.

It's getting crowded on this side of :cool:65.:wiggle:

Thanks for the advice. I'll go with the 8 mono as my all-around coil on this trip. We'll see if the Infinium can give my Excals a run for the money?! My only concern with Infinum will be pull tabs and other bits of aluminum trash. With Excalibur I can tell most pull tabs by sound. I may have to dig those with Infinium?

Yes I agree with the others here but I will also add that the bigger coils will cover more ground and could perhaps yield you more finds just by covering more area and increasing your odds of coming across some gold or other good stuff, etc.
My coil of choice for this would be the 14" mono.

Have fun either way!
