Best Hand Held Probe/Pinpointer

Used a few different models, and I find I like the Garrett Pro Pointer best........ There are several excellent pin pointers on the market.

Garrett just feels good in the hand, and gets respectable depth ..

I agree with Elton, the Garrett Pro Pinpointer is one of the best hand held pinpointer.HH Ron

So far the Propointer but Whites may come out with a new one soon according to rumors. HH

I have and use the Tesoro Treasure Mate, the ProPointer and a Sunray probe on my MXT. The Treasuremate will pick up small gold pickers the Pro Pointer doesn't recognize, but is touchy to tune. The Sunray on the MXT will out perform either, but has to remain on the MXT. For simplicity, grab and go, versus price, I'd recommend the ProPointer as it is more than adequate for coins and jewelry in parks etc. I attach a plastic stretchy cord for key chains on my handhelds so that they won't be left behind or lost while detecting. Learned that the hard way.

Pro Pointer blows the Whites and the Centech out of the way. Also tried a friends waterproof Vibraprobe and it gets lousy depth compared to the ProPointer. Minelab had a new pinpointer coming out this month. On Ebay you can pre-order it for $169. I'm sure (maybe not?) the price will come down to compete with the ProPointer. However, it doesn't have auto sensitivity like the ProPointer and that potentially could be a pain. On the other hand it might make it go deeper than the ProPointer if tuned right, but I use a washer on a string to super tune my ProPointer when I want the extra depth and usually can find the target that way if need be. Also, the Minelab says it features Auto shut off. On the Vibraprobe that's a real hassle. Hope Minelab gives you the ability to shut it off without relying on that. I'm totally happy with my ProPointeer and see no need to switch. I used to have an inline probe on my Explorers and it was way more hassle to use than the ProPointer.

You'll wonder how you got along without it.

Yup, I ended up with two ProPointers. Sure makes hunting easier!

i have Minelab Safari and was looking at buying the inline probe for it but it costs $230. A little to pricey for me.
