best gold detector for oz conditions for $1500 ?

what is the best detector for gold (nuggets) for around $1500 for australian conditions? i really dont mind what brand...

Hi Peter, a second hand minelab GP series would be ideal or even the SD series however these units can only be used in the dry! My personal choice is the Infinium LS, it's a dedicated gold hunter, great on the wet beach sand, shallow water use (surf etc) and great for scuba diving in the search for nuggets, jewelery, and coins. Everyone has their own ideas on whats best, take a look at the large picture and see where you want to go with your detecting and go from there! HH regards Nugget.:detecting:

i like your idea better nugget. the garrett. works in water, suitable for nuggets, etc.

whats an Infinium LS cost ? (although im not sure im ready for one yet)

The Infinium costs $2,475 which inludes spare alkaline battery pack which you can put recharbles in, plus recharable battery pack including the cells, 12v car charger and 240v charger, 2 sets of Earphones, one for dry hunting and an underwater set as well. DVD on operation of the unit, and an in the field pocket sized user manual. There are some good after market coils available, and an 18" mono coil should be in production very soon. Hope this helps. HH regards Nugget.:detecting:
