i would like to know what brand of metal detector would perform best in the state of virginia i live in lexington VA. there is a lot of red clay in va is there any PEOPLE WHO METAL DETECT IN VIRGINIA WITH INFO SO I WILL KNOW WHAT DETECTOR TO BUY I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT BEACH DETECTING

... we get it!
Around the red clay, something with a fast autotrack or smooth manual ground balance is usually recommended. Tesoro's Vaquero comes to mind as one of the latter.

I would also look at the Minelab X-Terra 70. I hunt in the red clay of NC and do very well. Lots of options out there, good luck to you, Beale.,

IMO Minelab makes the best detectors. You might want a Soverign. The red clay soil has no effect on your detecting as it is not full of minerals like in Arizona, but if you were on the beach, I would say Minelab anyway. GO MINELAB! You might even consider a super deep SD3500 for relics and coins if you can afford one, they are awesome. Even a SD2200D would be good old used. I had one and it was a great gold nugget detector, but I found tons of coins and bullets and minis with it. Great relic detector! MINELAB is the way to go. TNBob:detecting:

hi, in my experience, tesoros and minelabs and nautilus handle the hot soils of virginia best. i'm here in central va., and about 90% of us use these three. hh,
