I am not new to MDing but am having trouble deciding on a 6-$800 machine that will work well on relics, beaches and prospecting. Dont care which brand, just want the best for the dollar. Appreciate any input. Thanks

What do you use or have you been using in the past?

By including all three classes of detecting, the popular coin/jewelry hunting as well as more specialty applications of beach hunting and prospecting (nugget hunting) you pretty much narrowed it down to two models, at least so far as I am concerned.

Thanks to everyone for their input. I was using a Fisher f4 and sold it due to my orders coming in to be deployed. But Lord willing when I get home I want to start back.

hey good luck on your deployment!!!!!!!!!thanks for your service!!!!!!!!:clapping::usaf:

Just like "Ron from Michigan" my vote goes to the Xterra-70. Great machine.

A lot of machines with the features listed below cost well over $600.00. A lot of old timers have hung up their "other" brands and now exclusively use the ACE...Why? Because it is so much fun to use and surprisingly gets the targets like many other higher priced detectors...

A machine with user choice notching, graphic target ID, a good variety of available coils to help with increased depth or trashy areas, "belltone" to alert the user of coins or rings, 4 hunting modes with a custom mode, 3 tone ID and depth indicator. Oh...made in USA too and costs under $300.00. (sounds like an ad, doesn't it :()

MXT, Versatile, powerful, short learning curve. You might want to pick up the 6x10 DD coil for the beach and prospecting..

My opinion, though it may not count is the XT70 by Minelab. It is the best "all around" detector for the money. Easy to use, multi freg., good for prospecting, coins, jewelry, light weight, well balanced, good support, easy learning curve, user options, coil selection, battery usage.....I could go on but won't. As I said, jusy my humble opinion.
