BEST Detector for Puerto Rico?

cabochris

New member
I will be going to Puerto Rico in a couple of days for shallow water beach detecting. Can anyone tell me what detectors work best in PR? I'll also be traveling to another Caribbean Island, so I have airline weight restrictions of 50lbs per checked bag. So I am limited as to how many detectors I can take.

I have Minelab Excaliburs and Fisher CZ 20s- both sets with 8 and 10 inch coils. Plus I have a Fisher Impulse with 10 inch coil. In the past while on vacation I have found most of my gold with Excaliburs. I recently purchased the 2 CZ 20s because I was so impressed with an older Fisher CZ6a I won on Ebay. My intentions were just to travel with the CZ 20s- the 8 inch and the 10 inch- one for back-up too. But, since I have never used a CZ in the salt, I am wondering if I should also bring an Excalibur- a machine I know well. On the other hand from the photos I see on line, the sand in PR looks deep/heavy and I think the CZ 20 goes deeper than my Excalibur. That is why I'm also thinking about taking the Impulse? I hear the locals in PR detect daily, so my thinking is to have the deepest machine I have?

Any advice along with detecting area/best beaches tips in PR is much appreciated. Thanks, CC.
