Went to a colonial site Ive pounded before and came up with two King George II coppers. One is 174? and the other 173?. Also dug this Freemasons badge or pin. Any info on the badge would be great. Also the 1st Annual New England Treasure Show is a day away.

Tough to make our much of the coins. But anything dated in the 1730's and 1740's has to be a thrill to find. Congrats! As to the badge, I'm not sure it is a Freemason. I don't recall seeing a Masonic emblem without the letter "G" inside the square and compass. I'm thinking maybe it is a "Order of Independent Americans" badge. They, like several other fraternal organizations, used the same square and compass as the Masons. However, instead of the letter G inside, they chose to use an open Bible. I'd also wonder if what you found is the bottom portion of a larger ensemble. Likely a metal clasp at the top, connected to this piece by a R/W/B ribbon. Kind of like they did the GAR badges. Just a guess. But might be worth following up on. HH Randy

Nice finds, nothing cooler than something you cant identify, I love research. The King Georges are a great find, we are lucky to be in a part of the country where we can find such old coins!

Thank you tom B. That was a big help.

Wow, In my dreams

of what I would suspect yours would have looked like, had it been complete. I don't have one of them. But I found this pic on another treasure website.
