Met up with Ray yesterday for our bi-monthly hunt. I am on a serious quest to hit 100 silver coins for the season and was needing 17 more to hit it. I was hoping to find 4 or 5 to inch me closer to my goal.

I was not too excited about our prospects for the day since we did not have any new spots to hit but since we did get some well needed rain, we were curious as to what our old spots would produce with the moist ground. I never would have imagined a day like I had especially at our hard hit spots.

When it was all said and done I ended the day with 11 silver coins including 1 Walker half, 1 Standing Liberty quarter, 2 Barber quarters, 1 Barber dime, 4 mercs and 2 rosies. I also got 3 injuns and a 1864 2-cent (only my second one ever, first one being over 20 years ago)

This is not the most silver I have ever found in a day but considering the variety and quality of the coins this day I can truly say it is my best day ever!!

Great video. You are doing something right and whatever it is KEEP IT UP! It just don't get any better than that. Congratulations. HH :minelab:

With research, field hunting is the BEST. Watch those Hot Rock signals Bob.... some are LCs and you miss them if you have it cranked up to high. Excellent location and great finds.

Thanks for the tip Dew, good stuff to know.

As for our hunts, we were not field hunting we were park hunting. 99% of all my detecting is done at public places.

I do like to field hunt when someone invites me to a spot with them though:)

Nice finds !

Must be nice having unhunted 19th century parks every few blocks .... up here we have to work for them. Congrats !

That would be hard for any one to top, holy smokes. Several of those coins (the two center and barber quarters,), I am yet waiting to find my first of. To find all in one hunt, that pile is awesome. If you need help at that site, let me know!, CO

That is a good of hunting in anyones book.........:clapping:

Best day ever I guess!
Which detector was you using?

I was using a Minelab E-trac

And Dave, UNHUNTED 19 th century park?...... Oh how I wish it were that easy :surrender:

Wow Dr. Bob, that is a nice collection of coins! I am happy for you. I would love to have a day like that! Having hit this spot many times before, you must of been really shocked by what was missed. Conditions to the ground (such as the moisture you mention) can make a "hunted out" site come back alive. I always keep going back to my spots that I hunt (even though some tell me I am insane for wasting my time) but like you, I have returned to an area to pull out more silver / wheats / IH cents and have others scratching their head in amazement. One guy told me it was impossible that I pulled out the previous mentioned coins as he and many others had "cleaned the area" out. Silver is always welcome to surface but that "2 center" is super nice find. I would love to find one and have it on my list of coins to locate in the field. Again, super great hunt and wish you the best in the field. - Jim
