Best Coils for the 1200 Series

Woodstock

New member
I need some advice on the best coil to use on the 1200 series for coin shooting? I'am currently experimenting with a 1220X Pro hip monut. Yea guys &
gals..I know this is an older machine but I've had two regular 1220's in the past and I loved them and should have kept one. There discrimination was excellent and they were deep and I loved there silent searching. I also liked there mellow tone when a coin was found, unlike the "buzzy tone" from the 1265 and 1266's I've also owned.
So what advice can I get from all of you on the best coil for the series??? .............Woodstock

Your detector came with the 8" loop stock? Then for deepest hunting the big loop, around 11 inches,
and the small loop for sniping in very high trash situations. Fisher also made a DD at one time but you
might need to look around for one. Try Keith Wills at East Tx Metal Detectors in Gilmer, Tx., as he has a
huge collection of coils for sale for just about any detector ever made.:detecting:

Thanks for the help. The 1220 has the stock 8" and a tiny 3" for trashyards. I'll check around for the 11" and talk to Keith about the DD. Once again, thanks!

Woodstock,
I have owned three 1210's, a 1220, and two 1260's. For coin shooting you have the best coils in the 8 and 4 inch coils. I like the 11 inch with the 1260 for relic hunting and larger coins at greater depths. I have tested it in my coin gardens and miss some of my dimes that the 8 inch picks up. Quarters halves and silver dollars are found deeper with a stronger response on the 11. These test gardens are 20 and 30 years old so I am not talking about newly buried objects. I did not test the 11 inch on a 1220 as I no longer own it. Here's to "diggin it"! Larry (bjsone)
