Best coil to use on Florida beaches

Toymad

New member
Can anyone tell me what is the best coil to use on Florida beaches. I have the 950, and I was wondering if there is a better choice.

Thanks

I use the Mxt here in Grand Cayman and it has the stock 950 coil on it. I use it and it works great for me. It goes deep. I have dug rings at almost 12 inches, and bigger trash even deeper. Although it can be chattery at times. I have used this same detector at Flagler beach and it worked great there also. If you want to change coils though, I have read in the Mxt forums that the 6x10DD coil separates your trash better and that they tend to run a little more stable. I have to turn my gain down to around 7 or 71/2 when at the water line....but up in the dry sand I can run at 9+. Hope this helps. You can post this question in the Mxt forum for more help specifically dealing with your unit, if you haven't already.
