Best Clad day and ATPro died

4 hours in the morning netted $26.07 and a silver ring (4 - half dollars and 79 quarters - cherry picking a bit in a great spot :>). Then in the evening because of the heat I went to a state park swimming area. found $.27 in a couple of hours on the beach, only one penny in the water. I wasn't in the water very long and the time the control housing was under water was very short maybe 20 minutes as I didn't have a long handle scoop to recover deep items. Left there and stopped to try another spot, Took off the headphone as I usually don't use them on land, turn on ATPro and it starting flashing different VDI numbers with no sound and it wouldn't turn off. I removed the batteries and put them back in. It was still doing the same thing, so I removed the batteries again and waited a few minutes to replace them, then the ATPro wouldn't turn on at all. I tried different batteries (used but not dead as I had just replaced then a day or two earlier with new ones). Still wouldn't come on. I guess water got in where it shouldn't have. I see where for the upgrade you only send in the control box and coil, is this the same for when returning for service? I guess I pay for the upgrade as much for the extended warranty as the upgraded items.

As an aside at my final stop I used my BH tracker IV which I hadn't used since getting the ATPro. It made me realise how much I've been depending on the VDI numbers on deciding what to dig. Which is why I've only found one gold ring but several silver rings in the same time period. It also felt as light as a feather to use compared to the ATPro. Still I found $3.82 with it making the total for the day over $30 and over 200 coins, all clad, (90 quarters) for the day. I have someone buying tracker on Friday so I'm going to be without a detector at least for a short period.:yikes:

Well that is a monster day in my books. I have not hit the thirty dollar mark for a single day yet but have come close so know how much effort that is. Sorry to hear about the At Pro. Hope you get it back soon.

Obliviously it depends on the location Most days I'm lucky to get a couple of dollars in clad. The location I was at in the morning has a ton of targets and still I had to cherry pick to get the amount per hour that I did in the morning. I notched out everything below 80 and if 80 wasn't a quick pinpoint I left it. I also was popping the coins with a pro-pointer and screwdriver so I didn't spend much time recovering the coins and some were just on top of the ground in the grass. I have permission (from the office) to be there but it is owned by a organization and someone else could decide otherwise at anytime so I'm getting the best first and then I will go back and look for the zinc pennies and nickles and hopefully find some jewelry to average out the effort. I was amazed that the property hadn't been hit more in the past as it seems lately that anywhere I go someone is already there metal detecting. I doubt that I ever get more per per hour than this.

LOL...the most I have ever hit was $4.24 in a day, but its real hard hunting around here so thats actually really good.

Send it to Garrett and they will reset the 2 year warranty from the upgrades.

WOWZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZA. $26.00 is a week of hunting for me. What part of the country are you in that would have that kind
of clad in the ground? In my area, So. Calif. I never have finds like that. My best day is like 8 bucks and change. Clad + silver
there ought to be a law that you gotta split it with us poor folks. My biggest day is 19 quarters.

That is AWESOME. You should send that little story to Garrett's and see if they will print it.

I would wish you good luck, but I don't think you need it. Anyway

GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY HUNTING
