Best budget new or used beach detector.

Looking for the best budget new or used beach detector. Working in wet sand.

My budget us around 500$+/- (better on the - end ) though if more $$ is needed I'd like to know. I want a dedicated beach hunter that will get the goods.

Id recommend a Sov. Thou discontinues they are still top notch detectors that can be used wading, wet sand or dry. They have a lot of coil choices and can be hip mounted to lighten the load. IF you are hunting fresh water most machines coils are waterproof now days. Fresh water gives you a lot more choices than salt water which requires a multi freq machine for depth. Some of the older Explorers have TID. Which is nice since makes them a little more dirt friendly. You can use a PI on most salt water beaches....... but i wouldnt recommend them for dry sand to much trash and in fresh water targets dont desolve as fast.

If it's just freshwater you are working finfoto had a modified compadre posted on here a while back..,,doesn't get much more budget than that if you are capable of doing the mod... in that same spirit i modded a fisher 1270 and have had great success in the water with it but i dont like it on dry sand... [attachment 328312 20151209_0807011.jpg] my old whites 5900 works real good in dry sand but isn't any good for in water due to bouyant coil.. salwater would require multi frequency unit like excal,cz 21,ctx3030 so $500 wouldn't even get you a used one.. just my 2 cents..

I would also vote for a used Sovereign. It is an excellent wet sand machine that will literally pay for itself if you use it regularly. It also does just fine in dry sand. With a big coil, it is a lot like a pulse machine if used in all metal/ pinpoint. It is a beep-and-dig detector that has a learning curve, but the work of learning it is time well spent. Once you have cash from selling your gold finds, It will be very easy to add a waterproof machine (such as an Excalibur) to you arsenal.

Like others have said,you may need to up your budget for a really good dedicated beach machine.
If you don't mind digging everything,you may be able to pick up a garrett seahunter mk2 for close to your budget.......brilliant machine but you will be digging a lot.
If you want discrim,i would save a bit more until you can afford to go a bit higher in the price range.The better machines are expensive, but will pay for themselves a lot quicker than if you settle for a mediocre machine.
The whites beach hunter is generally less expensive than other top machines and is fantastic on thev wet sand,mine has given me a lot of rings and jewellry.

The safari.... runs stable.....deep.....works great on the wet salt sand....lightweight.....Great target ID, especially on deep targets.....under $550-$700 bucks used......Also works great on the sports fields and tot lots......good luck

If wet ocean sand is your thing don't over look a used Beach Hunter 300 (or DXF if staying out of the water). Used Surf pi dual field is good also, (limited to hard wired coil), but deep. Pulse Induction is going to require more digging, but hey never know what is really under to coil if you don't dig it. Both machines are water proof should you decide to get wet.
