Best Beach Machine debate

Handful of guys here on Gulf Coast come every winter for a couple of months. Hunting Ctx, Dualfields, Infinium, At Pro etc. Mr. Duelfield struck first, 14K band. The Inferno (Infinium) couple days later a 10k thin gold band, plus a Stainless steel ring earlier. Operator of The CTX to his credit eyedballed a 10 dollar bill. Needless to say pickings are slim. One thing in common with the Jewelry, no matter the Machine. Everything was found on wave slapped wet sand. I personally got mine in two scoops between calf high waves. I feel if I was there just a few minutes later, it wouldn't matter what machine I had. The opportunity would have been lost. Only conclusion common sense wise is , its best to have a water proof machine that can handle salt water. After that it's a crapshoot.

The best machine is any that has a competent operator who has spent the time and energy to really learn his machine. I've seen el cheapos beat minelabs and all others as the kid learned right, was dedicated and worked hard, aka my son in competitions-John

Totally agree that you need to really learn your machine........even simple machines need time to get the most out of them.Ive used many beach machines including pi machines and i have had the most success with a whites bhid which many people give up on.I stuck with it.......it takes some learning but once mastered it will keep up with anything and beat most.

Call me nostalgic but I still have a heart on for a CZ 5...well any CZ is as good but I liked the CZ5 on the beach. Not saying it is the best but to this day sure was hard to beet...sad they quit making them and just went to the 3D

I really miss mine. My arm collapsed using it 6 hrs straight or else I would still have it. While using my MX5, I noticed some of the pinging I once had with the CZ. I know the CZ is Fourier domain, but the auto GB on the MX5 sounds similar sometimes.

Neil, I have to agree that the Whites Beach hunter It is one of the best beach detectors I have used. I have a CZ, but take the Whites most of the time. If it lights red it is iron, I have dug lots of targets trying to prove it wrong but it is right-on every time. I will not get rid of mine, and might find another one just for back up.

Good to see a fellow bhid user, there are'nt many about.I thought about getting another one myself, there are still a few available new over here so i'm tempted, especially since they are now discontinued.
Like you i have a high regard for this machine and i have owned some good beach machines.I currently have an explorer as a back up which is great on the wet sand but the bhid seems to have something extra........the explorer is more refined but the bhid has a rawness about it that seems to hit the deeper targets better.Like you say,red is always iron, after this i tend to dig all other signals even if they show a mixed green/red or yellow/red as i have found good stuff close to ferrous objects when digging such signals.
A lot more senstive on the tiny stuff than the minelabs too...........great machine.

Neil, Try the BHID, in a park or open fields is the best. It can hunt with the best of other detectors. It will get heavy if not hip mounted. Try it sometime just to prove to your self how good it is. P.S. better not letto many know about this or it will be hard to find a good one. flintstone

Will do Flintstone.......i have a few chances this year to search the fields and i believe the machine will do well.I have mine on a sraight anderson shaft and i find i can hunt a long time with it so ive never found the need to hip mount it.
Happy hunting,neil.
