Best beach coil forM6

Any of you guys use the M6 on the beach?Just wondering what coils you use for the wet sand and if a certain one excels over others in the depth department.I've only really used the stock 950 on the beach and although i:ve found some good stuff i'm wondering if another coil will significantly improve depth on the wet sand.
Cheers,neil.

For the Wet Saltwater Sand, your best bet is the Standard 950 or the new 9" spider coil. They are the best compromise between depth and coverage. The 12" covers more ground but it also sees more ground signal so depth is not any better because you have to reduce gain or sensitivity. The D2 although touted as better in high mineralization, it doesn't perform as well on the wet salt sand as the 950. Single frequency machines like the M6 just don't do very well on the wet sand compared to the PI's and multi frequency machines.

My Gold Bug Pro works about as well or better than any of my single frequency detectors on the wet sand. It's better than any of my White's single frequency detectors and I think it's as good as my V3i or my old DFX, but it's not even close to my TDI or the Minelab Sovereign.

while I am not a big time beach hunter, when I made it to either a salt water or fresh water beach, I used the 950 coil. That was on the MXT, MXT Pro and the M6. The next trips I make to the beach I'll most likely use the 9" Spider coil because I like this coil, for a few reasons, and it has replaced the 950 in my personal arsenal. Both the 950 and 9" should provide almost identical performance.

I have hunted the Oregon coastal beach a fair amount prior to summer of last year using the M6 and I never had a problem. I also work some high iron mineralized fresh water beaches around Oregon and the M6 served me well. Matter of fact, I have worked a number of makes and model on both salt water beaches and fresh water, most with higher iron mineralization, and have thinned out all detectors from my personal arsenal except my favorites listed below .... all White's detectors.

Gone are my Omega and G2, Tesoro Bandido II

I worked a Gold Bug Pro as well as my own G2 against my MXT Pro and an M6. The G2 worked, but I didn't seem to match the results I got from my MXT Pro. Now, I am not a Double-D coil fan, but to try and even the odds I used both the 6X10 elliptical DD and the 10" D2 DD on my MXT Pro. I preferred the MXT Pro, and it almost matched the results I got with my VX3 at the time. Back a couple of years I also hunted the G2 against the MXT Pro on some of the super-salty Great Salt Lake in Utah. Actually, on that last visit I also worked my modified IDX Pro and both the IDX Pro and MXT Pro bested the G2 and my friend's Explorer II's.

I think the iron mineral content of some beaches can also influence how well certain makes and models behave.

Just my experiences.

Thanks for the info.....i'm quite surprised how well the 950 does on the wet sand and the depth it gets.Like Monte,i'm not a massive fan of dd coils,i'm yet to be convinced of their supposedly superior performance......most of my best finds have come while using concentrics.I'll stick with the 950 for now as there does'nt seem to be a stand out coil for the wet sand, they all seem to have their strengths and weaknesses. Many thanks for vthe responses, neil.
