I have been approached by many people at the beach when I detect that show interest in this crazy hobby of ours. I usually hand them a business card I've made up with my web page (http://beachgold.net) so they can get more information.
There is a Metal Detecting page on my web site where I have posted finds from other detectorists. These same pictures have been there for a few years. I'm now looking to update my finds page with new photos of some of your best finds (rings, watches, bracelets, etc) from all you people out there. I'll also post your best junk picture as a contrast to show others we don't just find the goodies.
I'm sure some of you have favorite spots and don't want to say where they are but if you found it on Virginia Beach for example, you don't have to say exactly where. The beach is big enough that one person will never be able to detect it all or even guess where abouts you found it.
I'm looking for people all over this country and around the world that have found great items. It doesn't matter if you found it in a park, playground, pond, lake, beach or sewer. If it's one of your best or most unusual it will probably get posted.
I know some of you (Pirates) have many many pictures and would like to have them all posted. I reserve the right to choose the amount and which pictures that I will post so it will be fair to everyone. This is not a contest, but more of a "Show Off - Look What I Found" page to show others not yet metal detecting, and the skeptics, that it can be done and the goodies are out there.
All credit will be given to the finder(s) of whatever is posted. Along with the pictures I would like to post the following information:
1) Either your real name or what ever nickname you wish, and the state you detect in.
2) To inspire others I'd like you to include where the item was found and the month and year it was found.
3) Just in case it's not obvious a short description (Silver, Gold, Platinum, Steel, etc.) of each item would also help, especially those with jewels.
4) Type of detector you were using when you found the item.
If there is enough interest and people responding to this, then I'll post a follow up later with an email where you can send the information.
