Best after market battery for the Excalibur? Thanks

Get the alkaline battery pod and then get the 1600 NIMH batteries on E-bay. Do a search on E-bay for minelab excalibur. The combo is cheaper than factory and works great.

had some nice 2600 mah AAsfor a good price and chargers were real reasonable too.

Rechargeable AA's just don't cut it with the Excalibur. They are fantastic for the E-trac because the E-trac runs at 9.6 volts.

The Excalibur runs at 12 volts and the Alkaline battery pack only holds 8 AA batteries. Rechargeable batteries are 1.2 volts as compared to the regular alkaline that are 1.5. The math says 1.2 X 8= 9.6 volts....far below the needed 12 volts.

1.5 X 8 = 12 volts....enough for the Excalibur to run fine with the non rechargeable AA alkaline batteries. The best bet for the Excalibur is the 1600 MAH NIMH 12 volt battery packs available on E-bay.They have 10 1.2 volt cells. A very good deal and they keep going and going. Double the 800 MAH nicads that were available when the Excalibur first came out. So far I've got over 30 hours use on a charge and it is still going strong.
