Best 6000/Di PRO SL settings for gold jewelry?

My mom lost a gold necklace last year, it was a 14k gold cross and chain. My dad thinks he knows where she lost it and I'd like to try to find it. For some reason my White's Classic III picks up gold jewelry better when the switch is set to "black sand." I was wondering if any of you would know the best settings on my 6000/Di PRO SL that would work for gold jewelry. Chances are the cross didn't sink into the ground (it was lost on the lawn). Any ideas on the best settings would be appreciated. My dad will be using the Classic while I search with the 6000.
