Lately, the view out of my office window looks like this.

The Farley Mowatt is a Green Peace vessel that pulled into harbour a few days ago and anchored off of my construction site. She's been flying a huge Jolly Roger from her bow and a French flag from her stern since she arrived. The French flag is a jab at the French Consulate that is located across the road from me. (the French blew up and sank a Green Peace ship, the Rainbow Warrior, several years ago in New Zealand)
The Pirate Flag is flying because 'Farley Mowatt' lost her registration after she spent the last several months RAMMING Japanese whaling ships in the Antarctic.
The Japanese are hunting whales in a whale sanctuary and Green Peace didn't take kindly to that! Seems like a pirate on pirate kind of fight. The Japanese did a fair bit of ramming themselves so decide for yourself who's right and who's wrong.
Either way, I admire the balls shown by the Farley Mowatt crew in flying pirate colours in the face of insurmountable odds.
It's also pretty neat to look out my window and see a 5'x9' Jolly Roger flying from an all black ship.

God Bless the Brotherhood of the Coast,

From one animal lover to another, those hunting these beautiful creatures are sub-human as far as I'm concerned!

My Golden Retiever is dying of cancer as we speak - and I'm doing everything in my power to buy him some more time - every time I think about MV I get sick to my stomach - sorry for the rant, but this is something I feel very strongly about!

Good ole' Farley, I never knew there was a ship named after him.

He was arrested for shooting a .22 at a B52 flying overhead at God knows how many thousands of feet.

Firing a .22 at a B-52 is impractical but Farley Mowat was an emotional, impassioned and impractical man. He did a lot of good, stirred up a bit of a fuss to keep us thinking and he bucked the system when he thought it was wrong.
Ramming Japanese whaling ships to stop them from poaching 1,000 whales in a sanctuary for endangered species is also impractical, but I don't think it's a bad idea. The whalers say they are doing scientific research and supporting their national and cultural identity. (apparently making a huge amount of money because whale meat is a delicacy and the whales are now hunted to near extinction is not a factor):crylol:
Flying a pirate flag because nations have bowed to corporate pressure and stripped you of your registration in an effort to keep you bottled up in port, Brilliant.
Sometimes you just have to 'Rage against the dying of the light'.
To All those with real pirate spirit, I wish you good hunting,

BDA:cool:

I heard that they sink those whalers also, more power to them..hope they ram an sink a bunch more. they deserve no quarter. whalers are the scum of the earth..
