While I was stationed in Berlin I discovered that, for some unknown reason, EVERY significant building or sculpture in Berlin would be given a nickname by the Berliners.
These two are some of the more "infamous".
This is the Berlin Concert hall and plaza. They called the hall "Jimmy Carter's Smile" and the sculpture was called the Bronze Butterfly. They also had another (and even more popular) nickname for the Bronze Butterfly, but it had to do with female anatomy.
(Note: If you'd like to know a little more about my time in Berlin go to: http://www.findmall.com/read.php?14,276799,276799#msg-276799 )
