Bent Detector Stand

Does anyone have any experience with repairing/straightening a bent Explorer (SE) stand? I searched the archives and didn't find any help on this subject. While in a hurry to get out of the house in socked feet, I slipped on some carpeted stairs while also carrying my SE, and landed on top of the detector. Instead of the stand being in a "V" shape, it is now closer to an "I". Can the SE stand tolerate an attempt at bending it back to its original form, or am I asking for trouble? I would try to find a friend with a substantial vise to hold the part of the stand that attaches to the detector, to hopefully allow bending the bent "fin" back in place. Any thoughts/ideas/precautions you all might have in fixing my SE would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise, I am going to have to put up with the Leaning Tower of SE every time I set the detector down. Thanks a bunch. Johnny
