Beltplate ID

a Hagner style. Dates to the 1870s era or "Indian Wars" period (we always gotta be $%^&% with someone). Nice find and great condition. Value: about the same as a Civil War US oval plate in likewise condition.
Good hunting,

Dean, don't recall exactly, but I've seen that plate, just can't remember its affiliation. I do believe it is post Civil War fraternal, i.e., GAR, UCV, Knights of Pythias etc. Very nice find, congrats. Let's hope someone recognizes your find. Send a pic to Steve at North South Trader in Orange, VA. Steve is frosty on most plates.

See Albert's Book, veteran's organization section, button type VN 19, VN20 and VN21, page 307 of my book. They have similar styles of monograms depicting VS. Great find. HH
