Bell Tone

I been air testing the 2500 gti, The coin Belltone is set to on but when A coin is passed under the coil all that I hear is a normal beep. The way the manual says it should be a belltone. Is there something wrong with my machine? I'm thinking belltone like in Fishers bell tone. I also tried to turn on belltone and bi-level at same time still a simple beep. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you checked to see if you have the belltone feature turned on? You have the option of turning it on/off on the GTI and GTP models.

Be advised, while a target in the ground may identify as high coin, if its extremely deep, it may not give proper bell-tone audio.[on]

Are you sure it's on? Only silver coins, gold, platinum, will belltone and you should move it rapidly across the coil. Remember these are "motion" detectors.

 Went back and revisited the tones. I rechecked and made sure the belltone was turned on, it was. Played around with the sounds and passing coins across coil. I did hear a distinctive bell tone and I placed the gti on bi-tone and I could then hear the differences in tones. I suppose I didn't listen well to the tones before I asked a dumb question. Thank you to all that replied. It is great to have a place where there is so many quality people that can help you when there is a situation that you do not understand.

Can you please clarify what you mean by a deep coin not giving the bell-tone audio. I am using the GTI 2500 and have only been digging targets that give the bell-tone, ID as coin, and are size B. Maybe that is why I havent found any coins over six inches deep. Can you please explain how a good deep coin may show up. What should I look and listen for?

P.S. I have been hunting in zero discriminate mode with Bi-level on, as I heard this will get me a little more depth. The detector is noisy this way, but I am getting used to it.

Thanks,
Joe

If you're in an area where there may be really deep coins dig everything. Most any quality detector can detect deeper than it can ID, provide a given tone for, or in the case of the GTI, image for. Due to the size of the imaging receiver coil imaging has its depth limits. Never depend entirely on display ID's, tones, or whatever, to determine what is in the ground as they all have their electronic limits. If you think deep coins are present and it beeps - DIG IT!
