bell tone and medium tone targets

adamant

New member
I been slowly getting tHe hang of this unit. I find myself searching a area and getting a bell sound (like a coin) then on the back swing a medium tone sound and so on. Hard to pin point the what triggered the bell sound. Would u dig?

I would definitly dig! I dig anything and everything that non-ferrous. Did you check in iron audio? Sometimes just the way the target is oriented in the ground will cause a different ID from different swing directions. It could be rusty iron. OR two targets in very close proximity to one another.
You never know 'til you dig it up. Your digger is the ultimate discriminator. Happy Hunting!:)

Good point. I will check it in iron audio. Just. Trying to minimize my digging. Been digging a lot of trash and tore up aluminum cans.

adaman - The same thing happens to me. I keep getting a single bell tone every couple of swings but when I pass back over it either changes to mid tone or no tone at all. I turned down the sensitivity to about 3 of 4 notches below max last night before it got dark and it seemed to not sound off as often. I'll start my next hunt with lower sens and see what happens.

You've discovered what a lot of people have been preaching for years. Back off on the Sens. and you'll have a much easier time on your hunt. More Sens. is not always a good thing. Run it at 4 bars and it will run pretty smooth and still get you the same depth. Sens. not only works on good targets, but all the unwanted stuff too...like mineralization!!

I sometimes get belltone on targets reading 45-55,
