Bell Information

AJupstateNY

New member
This bell was just given to me and has been in possession of family members for past 30 or
more years.

Just trying to find any information on it.

Date on side is 1811, made of bronze (I think), weights 1517.7g; 5-7/16" wide at mouth; across head is 3";
base is 4" tall and overall height is 7.75".

Any info on age or use would be great.

Thanks

How about a few more pics showing round the bell

The chain inside of it is molded into the ball, The style of chain Double Loop chain. If you can figure out when that style was invented it may help to date the bell.

This is what Ive read about these bells Of wich there are many marked 1811.
Mexican souvenir bell . many made in 1950s. The date is for the execution of Father Miguel Hidalgo who kicked off Mexico's struggle for independence from Spain on September 16, 1810 when he issued his famous "Cry of Dolores" in which he exhorted Mexicans to rise up and throw off Spanish tyranny. For almost a year, Hidalgo led the independence movement, battling Spanish forces in and around Central Mexico. He was captured and executed in 1811
